SanMar Invests in Expansion of Mhotivo School in Honduras

It’s part of the Top 40 supplier’s growing corporate social responsibility efforts.

SanMar (asi/84863) is stepping up.

The Issaquah, WA-based Top 40 promotional products supplier is making a significant investment in the Mhotivo School in Choloma, Honduras.

It’s part of SanMar’s core mission of striving to make a positive difference in communities where the apparel company operates. SanMar has large manufacturing operations in Choloma, with surrounding areas home to company employees and their families.

SanMar is making the investment in partnership with the W. Duke Kimbrell Family Foundation, an affiliate of yarn manufacturer Parkdale Mills, which also manufacturers in the Choloma area. The funds will support the addition of 22 classrooms, a computer lab, and additional administrative offices to help increase enrollment by 600 additional students.

“People are at the heart of everything we do, which is why SanMar, together with Parkdale Mills, is investing in future generations of Hondurans by supporting the Mhotivo School and its new facility,” said SanMar CEO Jeremy Lott, a member of Counselor’s Power 50 list of promo’s most influential people. “We recognize the importance of having access to a great education and believe that investing in people and communities is core to our purpose of creating meaningful connections that elevate lives.”

Executives noted that SanMar previously sponsored children at the Mhotivo School. The company said that the success of these students, along with the need for quality education in the area, prompted the expansion of the Mhotivo school in Choloma.

SanMar has been working to operate more sustainably, reduce impact on the environment, and help build strong communities for employees domestically and abroad. It’s all part of the company’s Canvas for Good initiative. ASI Media has been documenting growing industry-wide efforts on sustainability and corporate social responsibility through Promo for the Planet.

Based on estimated 2021 North American promo product revenue of $2.88 billion, SanMar ranks first on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the industry.
