St Regis Launches Inaugural ESG Report

The supplier has pledged to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions 20% by 2025.

St Regis Group (asi/84592; Canada, asi/84595) has released its inaugural environmental, social and governance (ESG) report, announcing a commitment to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions 20% by 2025.

Brianna Mazze, vice president of sustainability and compliance, said the supplier of awards, recognition and corporate giftware is placing a strong emphasis on ESG initiatives both internally and externally. “We believe that transparent sustainability is key to creating a better future for us all,” Mazze added.

St Regis Group’s impact report takes a deep dive into its ESG program, using its four pillars of success approach: responsible business practices, human rights and wellbeing priority, environmental assessment and environment action.

In the report, St Regis detailed its charitable initiatives and giveback programs. Last year, the supplier launched the Community Care Kit program, an annual event of kitting and donating back-to-school essentials to underprivileged youth. The supplier also noted that it makes in-kind donations of discontinued items and minimally damaged products to local charities and northern Canada communities.

St Regis Group also created a Giveback Collection, donating 1% of the proceeds from the collection to Plastic Bank, a for-profit social enterprise founded and based in Vancouver, BC, that says it builds recycling ecosystems in under-developed communities to fight both plastic pollution in oceans and high poverty levels in developing countries.

In 2022, the supplier also started benchmarking its carbon emissions – noting that it had produced around 761 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent to Scope 1 and 2 emissions last year. The company committed to reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 20% in 2025 and is exploring initiatives that include LED lighting, system controls and digital building asset management.

St Regis Group noted that it received a bronze medal in its first-time assessment from EcoVadis, a company that conducts business sustainability ratings, across four categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. The supplier said it’s targeting a silver medal next year. In addition, the supplier completed two Higg Facility Environmental Modules (Higg FEM) for their largest facilities in Itasca, IL, and Markham, ON. The Higg FEM is a sustainability assessment tool that standardizes how facilities measure and evaluate their environmental performance, year over year.

The supplier also noted in the report that it plans to expand its Eco Collection of promotional products by at least 20% by 2024. “We’re focusing on brands that share the same values as St Regis,” Mazze said, pointing to companies like SIGG, a Swiss brand that makes bottles from 100% post-consumer recycled aluminum. St Regis acquired Clearmount (asi/45440), the Scarborough, ON-based exclusive representative of SIGG bottles to the promo industry, in December 2022.
