The Bright Side: Storm Creek Donated Over $350,000 in 2022

The outdoor apparel brand says it’s prevented more than 20 million plastic bottles from ending up in oceans and landfills so far.

Storm Creek (asi/89879) is making strides in both sustainability and social responsibility.

The Eagan, MN-headquartered supplier announced the results of its 2022 philanthropic and environmental initiatives. Last year, the outdoor apparel company contributed more than $350,000 in monetary and in-kind donations to national and local charities. Highlights included donating more than 6,000 garments to charitable partners, providing 270,000 meals through Feeding America and donating funds to the National Park Foundation to protect the U.S.’s more than 400 national parks.

Thanks to its continued charitable efforts, Storm Creek has been a member of the Minnesota Keystone Program since 2019. The program promotes corporate philanthropy by recognizing and honoring companies in the state that donate at least 2% of their pre-tax earnings to charitable organizations. Storm Creek said it’s been recognized at the 5% giving level by the program.

“We are seekers of better, firmly committed to and constantly pursuing ways to be better and do better in every aspect of our business,” said Teresa Fudenberg, Storm Creek CEO. “As part of this, we proudly set an aggressive goal of generating $5 million in charitable giving by 2030.”

Storm Creek said it’s one-fifth of the way toward the goal, having donated $1 million to date, including 2022’s $350,000 contribution.

The supplier also noted in its end-of-year report that its entire line of lifestyle and outdoor apparel is sustainably made, with the majority of items in its 2023 “Everyday Eco” catalog made using upcycled materials. As of the end of 2022, Storm Creek said it’s prevented more than 20 million plastic bottles from ending up in landfills or oceans, thanks to its use of recycled polyester (rPET) fabrics. The supplier also uses carbon offset shipping through UPS and has been a 1% for the Planet partner since 2019.

“As an outdoor-inspired apparel company, we are proud of our efforts to protect and support the environment through product innovations and conscientious operational practices, which we also constantly seek to improve,” Fudenberg said.
