Cap America Promotes Gammon to CEO

Mark Gammon is replacing Phil Page, who is transitioning to chairman of the board at the Top 40 supplier.

There’s a new chief executive at Top 40 promotional products supplier Cap America (asi/43792).

Mark Gammon, formerly the Fredericktown, MO-based company’s president and chief operating officer, has risen to the role of CEO. He officially begins in the position on Jan. 1, 2022.

Gammon replaces Phil Page, Cap America’s founder and current CEO. Following what the firm described as thorough succession planning, Page is transitioning to become chairman of the company’s board.

“We are delighted that Mark has accepted this position,” Page said. “His deep industry knowledge, combined with the critical competencies evaluated for the selection of the position, confirm our decision in his appointment. He has a proven track record of building high performing teams and can take justifiable pride in where the company stands today.”

Cap America’s 2020 North American promo products sales of $38.2 million were good enough to elevate the company onto Counselor’s Top 40 list of the industry’s largest suppliers for the first time. The firm ranked 38th.

Gammon has played a pivotal role in driving that success during the more than six years he has been with Cap America. He joined as vice president of sales in 2015, before being promoted to president/COO two years later.

“I am honored to assume the (CEO) role and grateful to Phil for his influence and guidance through this process,” said Gammon. “We are well-positioned to expand opportunities for our clients and associates moving forward. This is a terrific opportunity that any leader would welcome.”

Prior to joining Cap America, Gammon worked as a sales manager and business development manager at Newton, IA-headquartered Top 40 distributor The Vernon Company (asi/351700).

Founded in 1985, Cap America specializes in headwear, providing in-stock, custom overseas and USA-made products. The firm employs about 400 people. In addition to Phil Page, the company’s board includes Gammon, Mary Page, Jon Page, Cory Cissell, Curt Car and Wes Royer.
