Joe’s Promo Picks: Year-End Celebrations
Product Editor Joe Haley has top finds from ASI Chicago that would make ideal Q4 gifts.
According to ASI’s most recent State of the Industry survey, about 60% of distributors say they’d prefer to buy items that are environmentally or socially responsible, while 45% report that their clients asked for more of these products in the past year. When it comes to year-end gifting, think recycled items (like the “rescued” glasses shown here) as well as reusable drinkware and consumable food gifts in reusable packaging, like mini Bundt cakes in glass jars.

Say it with me slowly and gleefully: The industry now offers branded beer. In addition to three styles of craft beer in customized cans (pictured here is Eliqs4), buyers can also purchase rosé or white wine, three hard seltzers and three types of water. The promo options are limitless, from conventions to corporate events, to weddings and parties. To amend a popular Ben Franklin quote: “Beer is proof this advertiser loves us and wants us to be happy.”
Mo’s Bundt Cakes (asi/71843)
These freshly baked mini Bundt cakes have a shelf life of 14 days, but I can’t imagine them lasting that long. Take my word for it: these baked goods are delicious. Available in four flavors, they come in several sizes and in single jars or assortment boxes of 6 or 12 jars. Ideal as salesperson leave-behinds, corporate gift programs and room drops at national sales meetings.
Bindle Bottle (asi/40548)
I’ve seen water bottles with storage, but few have as much as this 24-oz. Bindle Bottle. This double-wall, vacuum-insulated drinkware’s storage is big enough for wallets, car keys, cash, credit cards and snacks. Great for people on the move. There’s also a model specifically for pet-lovers, called the Puppy Pack, that comes with a collapsible water bowl and shoulder strap.

The Universal Switchband is a holder that fits all cellphone cases. It doesn’t get in the way of the camera or charging port, and attaches inside the case with hook and loop, not glue strips. Print on one or both sides. Great for schools, businesses and any organization that wants to be front-and-center before its core audience.

Rather than “recycled,” let’s use the word “rescued” when we talk about these glasses (Duo 2P-GRN12). The set is made with used wine bottles repurposed into drinking glasses. The supplier works with local restaurants and wineries to rescue empty bottles before they’re tossed into recycling bins. They’re also packed in boxes made from recycled material and printed with water-based paint.
