Apple Gives Out Exclusive Merch at WWDC22

Though the software developer conference is mostly virtual, some students and professionals were invited to an in-person event that featured swag bags and branded gear.

For the first time since before the pandemic, Apple invited a select group of software developers to a “special all-day experience” at Apple Park, its Cupertino, CA headquarters. The one-day in-person event kicked off its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, being held from June 6 to 10 with keynotes and sessions happening virtually.

WWDC attracts developers from all around the world and features some of the most coveted branded merchandise.

Conference attendees at the pared-down in-person component each received a black swag bag with the rainbow-rimmed swift logo and WWDC22 branding. Inside the bag was an array of promotional products: two face masks, an all-black WWDC baseball hat with a tone-on-tone swift logo, a small bottle of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer sunscreen, an all-white S’well water bottle branded with the Apple logo, and a WWDC pin set that features the event logo, the Apple logo and a handful of fun emojis.

Students who entered the third edition of Apple’s Swift Student Challenge this year also had the chance to win exclusive merch. The challenge gives coding students a chance to be awarded for their projects with a one-year membership to the Apple Developer Program.

Last year, winners received WWDC outerwear and a pack of customized WWDC pins. For 2022, Apple also gave winners AirPods, as well as a congratulatory letter, the exclusive WWDC pins, a hoodie with yellow WWDC branding and an Apple logo, and a beanie with a yellow Apple logo.

The challenge, which aims to nurture the future generation of developers, awarded students who created the best app projects on topics of their choice. WWDC22 is focused on Apple innovations in iOS and other Apple operating systems. Although the majority of the event was virtual, Apple hosted a viewing party for a select group of students and developers to watch the keynote and other videos on the Apple campus June 6. Attendees also had a chance to look around Apple’s new Developer Center.

Held since 1987, WWDC is an annual conference where Apple showcases new software and technology to developers.
