Genumark Welcomes Johanna Gottlieb as VP of Business Development

The appointment is part of a larger push to expand the Canada-based Top 40 distributor’s presence across the U.S.

The largest Canadian distributor is looking to expand its presence in the U.S. and has welcomed an industry veteran to lead the efforts.

Top 40 distributor Genumark (asi/204588) in Toronto has hired Johanna Gottlieb as vice president of business development. Gottlieb, based in Chicago and most recently the vice president of sales for Top 40 distributor HALO Branded Solutions (asi/356000), has nearly two decades of industry experience. She was also named an ASI Media Distributor Salesperson of the Year Finalist in 2019.

“I’m elated to join the Genumark family and spearhead its expansion into the American market,” Gottlieb said. “Genumark has long been renowned for its innovative and client-focused approach in our amazing industry. I will focus on broadening our reach while building on our commitment to sustainability that’s been highlighted by our recent B Corp certification.”

The move follows Genumark’s hiring of Mike Garcia as executive vice president of finance in the spring. “We’re thrilled that Johanna has joined our team,” said Mitch Freed, CEO of Genumark and a member of the Counselor Power 50. “Her extensive experience and passion for our core values are immeasurable assets that will propel us toward new horizons.”

In addition to her sales acumen, Gottlieb is also committed to sustainability as well as diversity, equity and inclusion causes, and is the chair of the board of directors for PromoKitchen, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that promotes education and mentorship in the industry.

With reported North American promotional product revenue of $51.4 million, Genumark ranked 38th on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest distributors in the industry.
