Custom Logos Acquires Apropos Promotions

San Diego-based Custom Logos (asi/173183) has announced the acquisition of Walnut Creek, CA-based distributor Apropos Promotions (asi/123052). As a result, existing staff and offices will remain in place, including Ann Wilber, founder and president of Apropos. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Custom Logos’ positioning in the marketplace is more of a boutique agency approach, providing customized branding solutions to our clients,” Jeff Golumbuk, CEO/founder of Custom Logos, told Counselor. “That is exactly the approach Apropos has taken over the past 20 years, making them a perfect fit for our growth strategy.”

According to Golumbuk, Custom Logos generated $15.6 million in revenue for 2018. Based on Apropos Promotions generating $2.1 million in revenue last year, he estimates that the acquisition is on track to add $2.5 million annually to Custom’s revenues. “Based on the acquisitions we have made this past year and those we have pending, Custom Logos should reach revenues of $20 million for 2019,” Golumbuk says.

Apropos is the fourth acquisition that Custom Logos has completed over the past 15 months, joining San Diego-based distributors Amazing U Promotions and What’s New Promotions, as well as Cairdea Design & Marketing in Alameda, CA.

“All of our acquisitions are done in the same vein, with a high value placed on cultural fit and business strategy,” Golumbuk says. “We have grown successfully the same way over the past five years or so, never sacrificing our business philosophies for growth. This of course, like most of what we do, is in direct contrast to how the large players in our industry have been consolidating. One of our core philosophies over the past 30 years has been to go in the opposite direction of what the competition is doing and it has served us very well.”

Founded in 1989, Custom Logos performs in-house screen-printing and embroidery at its facility in Kearny Mesa, located in the center of San Diego.
