Top 40 supplier Ennis (asi/52493), through one of its subsidiaries, has acquired New York-based Allen-Bailey Tag & Label in an asset purchase, the companies have announced. Financial terms of the deal, made public on May 2, were not disclosed.

“We’re glad to have added another well known, quality tag and label brand to our operations within the Ennis family,” said Keith Walters, president and CEO of Ennis. “It’s also important that we have added new market niches and that we have expanded our geographic presence of tags and labels into the eastern seaboard. We look forward to growing this business and continuing its fine customer service.”

According to an Ennis statement, “a majority of Allen-Bailey employees” will continue to run the business in the same location in Caledonia, NY, where the firm has operated for nearly 70 years. Allen-Bailey, which Ennis says generates about $12 million in annual sales volume, produces tags and labels for the fire safety and agriculture industries. The company has sales representatives in several states other than New York. Texas-based Ennis also owns another firm in Caledonia, NY – Specialized Business Forms, Inc. – which it acquired in 2005.
