Stormtech Introduces New Sustainable Apparel Collection

The Top 40 supplier based in Canada has furthered its commitment to sustainability with a new line of eco-conscious garments.

Top 40 supplier Stormtech (asi/89869; US, 89864) in Vancouver, BC, has unveiled a new line of eco-friendly apparel for Spring 2022. This is the brand’s first fully sustainable collection, created and launched in line with the firm’s commitment to eco-consciousness.

Each of the 18 items in the new Pure Earth by Stormtech collection, including polos, performance tees, quarter-zip pullovers and softshell jackets, are constructed with either polyester made from recycled plastic (RPET) and/or cotton certified by the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). Packaging includes hangtags made of paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), oxo-biodegradable bags and FSC-certified cartons. The supplier says it’s also committed to reducing the carbon footprint it creates during the production process.

The men’s weather-resistant and water-repellent Narvik Softshell (KBR-1) is made of 42% recycled polyester. A women’s style (KBR-1W) is also available.

“Sustainability has always been part of our DNA and at the core of our business values,” says Georgeta Navodarszky, VP of supply chain. “In addition to our ‘zero real fur and down’ policy, we focus on sourcing raw materials with minimal impact on forest habitats. The newly launched Spring 2022 Collection took a step further and sourced more sustainable and durable materials, trims and packaging. By 2025, we are committed to transitioning all top materials by impact to fully sustainable solutions.”

As part of the pre-launch, Stormtech introduced the Pure Earth Project, which contributed to the Pacific Salmon Foundation’s fundraising efforts on Giving Tuesday in late November 2021. The initiative resulted in a 200% increase in donations, which were matched by Stormtech. The funds go toward wild salmon conservation.

Through its 1:1 Initiative, the apparel supplier donates 1% of its global sales to charitable organizations, including the True North Youth Foundation and First Book. Stormtech most recently donated more than $600,000 in apparel to victims of the devastating flooding in British Columbia in November.

With reported 2020 North American promotional products revenue of $43.6 million, Stormtech ranked 32nd on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the industry.

The new eco collection from Stormtech is the latest in a series of recent sustainability moves within the promo industry. This week, 4imprint (asi/197045), the third-largest distributor in the industry, announced that it’s constructing an array of 2,600 solar panels at its facility in Oshkosh, WI. The panels will generate more than 40% of the power the firm requires to operate its distribution center.
