When it came to product category sales, 2019 was more of the same. The top five categories were identical to the prior three years. Defined trends (increases in drinkware and headwear, declines in writing instruments and USBs) continued their multi-year arc.

It will be a far different story in 2020. Since the beginning of the pandemic, PPE has dominated industry sales and searches on ESP, while traditional promo items fell off. Though sales of those traditional promo products will slowly increase throughout the rest of 2020, it’s clear the longstanding product landscape has shifted. We offer a snapshot of that here, with updated 2020 projections of select product categories, and a look at the most popular product searches on ESP through the first half of the year.
