The firm was established in New York City in 1947 by Irving Taxel, who founded the business on branded “slide guides.” The company’s family lineage lives on with son Nelson as CEO; Nelson’s daughter Brooke (the company’s director of wearables) and other children are also actively involved in the business. Executives say they plan to hire more staff this year to continue serving customers.
