Nail the Follow-Up

Your sales pitch doesn’t end when you leave your client’s office or hang up the phone! The follow-up is one of the most important aspect of a successful sales pitch, as 80% of sales require at least FIVE follow-up calls.* Touching base after a pitch shows attentiveness, distinguishes you from your competitors, and shows the passion you have for your business and the industry. Follow these simple steps to ensure you stay top of mind with your prospective customers:

  1. Send a thank-you note. This can be a quick email thanking them for their time, or even better, a handwritten note dropped in their mailbox! Mention specific things you discussed in your meeting so it doesn’t look like a generic message sent to all prospects. Not sure what to say in your note? Check out our email templates.
  2. Immediately after your appointment or call, look over your notes for any action items that you can act on right away. Additionally, update your notes in your CRM tool or wherever you record client information. Include specifics such as what their next promotions are and deadlines for following up.
  3. Consider shipping them a few samples! Seeing a physical product imprinted with your company’s logo is a powerful motivator to purchase. Sending a sample box is a great way to make a lasting impression.
  4. Not hearing back after your last pitch? Set up a follow-up date on your calendar and reach out via a quick phone call on that day. Remind them of your conversation and how promo products can help them spread the word about their brand.

Remember: When it comes to sales, organization is key! Stay on track with your follow-up deadlines and sales calls, and be sure to write out your full plan next time you have a client meeting.
