Obituary: Floyd Schulmeier, Selco

Floyd Schulmeier, formerly of Selco (asi/86230) in Tulsa, OK, passed away Oct. 8. He was 80.

Schulmeier was born in San Antonio, TX, where he attended high school and college. He began his career in the jewelry industry in 1961 and took a position with Selco in 1965. Schulmeier and his wife, Vi Smith, established S&S Time in February 1992. They sold S&S Time to Selco in 2010, where Smith is still a member of the sales team.

Schulmeier was also an accomplished trumpeter and played in the local German-American Society band, the Tulsa Community Band, his church praise and worship band and for nursing home residents.

“Floyd was smart, funny, opinionated, friendly and never met a stranger,” Smith said. “He loved unconditionally, was compassionate and would do anything for you. He loved God and knew God was his source, and had a fierce pride in our kids and grandkids. He made me laugh; 37 years with Floyd was a joy, and each day was totally new. He is missed terribly, but is at peace.”

Schulmeier is survived by his children Eric Smith, Connie Duncan (Bryan), Janet Allen, Jeff Smith (Jackie), Samantha Bridgers (Butch) and Allen Schulmeier (Julie); sisters Darleen Lange (Marvin) and Aline Wallace (Gene); and nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Valeska Schulmeier, and brother Loyd “Butzie” Schulmeier.

Services were held on Oct. 11 and 12 in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Floyd Schulmeier’s name to Royal Family Kids’ Camp, c/o Christian Chapel Church, 7807 E. 76th St., Tulsa, OK 74133.
