4 Ideas To Improve Your Social Media Marketing

Propel your company’s popularity online with these tips.

In a world where 4.76 billion people use social media, it’s never been easier to advertise a product. The sprawling expanse of social media apps ensure there’s a place for every individual, product or business. But that also means there’s a lot of noise to cut through. Try these four tactics to help up your social media game.

Social media marketing, hand, post-it notes

1

Don’t be afraid to be informal.

Forbes reports that 97% of Gen Zers are active on social media. Young people constitute an incredible portion of the internet, and you should promote your business with that demographic in mind. Nowadays, many young people wouldn’t give a second thought to skipping over a 2000’s-style infomercial. In other words, when in Rome do as the Romans do. In order to appeal to a younger crowd, you have to act like them. This involves having a fun and almost playful approach when producing your own content.

2

Partner with influencers on their way up.

Influencers can post a product recommendation on TikTok one day – and by the next, it’s already sold out in every store. Consider the sudden rise of the Stanley tumbler. Connecting with an influencer to showcase a promo item you want to highlight could be just the ticket to jumpstart its popularity. When looking for a social media star to partner with, consider two things: The person should already be posting content related to product you want to feature, and the influencer should be rapidly gaining followers, rather than someone already established with a large following. These two characteristics will likely help you gain more traction, thanks to modern social media algorithms.

3

Pay attention to current events.

There’s always something going on, whether it be sports, music festivals or some other noteworthy happening. By strategically timing your social media posts to match up to such events, you can greatly increase site traffic. An example: Create a T-shirt to celebrate a high school team’s playoff win, then post a photo of it on your social media platform, making sure to tag the relevant people. If enough interested people repost or comment, it could boost the algorithm and get your content to a wider audience.

4

Consider the benefits of livestreaming.

Livestreamed videos are expected to have 17% share of overall internet traffic this year, according to Demand Sage. And a recent report by Coresight Research and Bambuser predicts that the livestream e-commerce market will reach $31.7 billion by the end of 2023. Though Meta has stepped away from live shopping on both Facebook and Instagram in recent months, it’s still worth considering the benefits of sharing content live with your audience online. Perhaps you could set up a webinar and stream it to Facebook and LinkedIn. Pick a question that’s frequently asked by customers and give a live response – allowing time to answer other questions during the livestream.
