When selling beach-themed merchandise, Mosley advises distributors and decorators to consider items that may not be used at the beach, but evoke thoughts of sand and surf. “Companies in the beer or liquor business would also be good targets,” he adds.
According to Charlie McGuinness, national sales manager for MV Sport/Weatherproof (asi/68318), “beach apparel and accessories appeal to all demographics. There are so many social activities associated around the water.” In addition, he says, the promotional appeal of beach apparel includes a strong aspirational element. Surf’s up!
