Augusta Sportswear Acquires Pacific Headwear

Georgia-based Augusta Sportswear (asi/37461) has acquired 20-year-old Pacific Headwear (asi/75660), a privately held maker of customizable headwear based in Coburg, OR. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Building our portfolio of brands strategically to accelerate growth is a key priority,” said Dave Elliott, CEO of Augusta Sportswear. “The acquisition of Pacific Headwear enables us to provide our customers with a compelling head-to-toe solution that delivers on our commitment to be a one-stop solution for our customers.”

Don DeZarn, founder of Pacific Headwear, called the acquisition by Augusta “an exciting step for our organization as we look to combine the strengths of our two companies.”

The combination of the two companies will create growth opportunities in various channels, including on-field performance, decorator and corporate, according to Elliott. “We look forward to welcoming the Pacific Headwear team and its over 200 dedicated employees to the Augusta Sporstwear Brands family,” he added.

The acquisition won’t cause any operational changes to Pacific Headwear, and its facilities will continue to operate as normal, David Goerke, vice president of marketing for Augusta told Counselor. DeZarn will take on a vice president’s role at Augusta, focusing on sales and marketing “due to his extensive experience in the marketplace and valuable experience and insight into new headwear categories and products,” Goerke said.

Augusta Sportswear is a manufacturer of high-performance activewear and spiritwear for teams, coaches, athletes and fans. The company also owns the Holloway and High Five brands, and last year, it entered a strategic partnership with Russell Athletic, allowing it to manufacture, market and sell Russell uniforms in the team sports channel.
