Recall On Ellen DeGeneres Brand Infant Coveralls

Safety officials in the U.S. and Canada have announced a recall on ED by Ellen DeGeneres infant coveralls because they pose a choking threat to children. The hazard lies in a bunny applique on the garment that can detach.

In one instance, a young child in Canada put the detached applique in their mouth, but a grandparent removed the item before the baby could choke, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. There were no incidents or injuries reported in the U.S.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled coveralls and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund,” the CPSC said in a statement.

Manufactured in China by Dongguan Sureon Trading Limited, the coveralls reached the U.S. through importer Weeplay Kids LLC of New York. Between September 2017 and January 2018, the garments retailed for about $16 in the U.S. at Buy Buy Baby and Marshalls stores, as well as online at www.buybuybaby.com. In Canada, the garments were on sale at Buy Buy Baby and online from August 2017 to March 2018. Approximately 2,500 of the coveralls sold in the U.S. Consumers purchased another 130 or so in Canada.

Pink-striped and long-sleeved, the 100% cotton coveralls come with a hat that bears a pompom. They have a kangaroo pocket and bunny applique on the left chest. There are snaps in the crotch.

Style ED01210 was sold in infant sizes 3M, 6M and 9M. Style ED13210 was sold in 12M, 18M and 24M. The style number and manufacture date code of August 2017 (08/2017) are printed on the inside garment tag located inside the seam of the garment. “ED by Ellen DeGeneres” and the garment sizes are printed on the inside back of the garment.

In the U.S., concerned consumers can contact Weeplay Kids toll-free at 888-854-6563 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or online at www.weeplaykids.com.
