Top Distributor Develops Digital Signature Capture Technology

Top 40 distributor Taylor Communications (asi/333647/121500) is introducing a new patented technology that it says will revolutionize administrative functions requiring secure identification, verification and signature capture.

The technology allows consumers to electronically sign documents securely on their own devices without the need to install an app or create a user account. Taylor said the offering is a valuable tool for a spectrum of markets where customers or patients need to complete secure documents, including healthcare, financial and insurance. The company told Counselor that it is researching how the new technology can be applied in additional verticals, including promotional products.

“KLIC-Sign technology will help organizations save money, streamline workflow and improve customer satisfaction,” Keyton Weissinger, vice president of technology product management and inventor of KLIC-Sign, said in a prepared statement. “This is technology that will allow our customers to provide easier, quicker and more secure transactions with each of their customers.”

In announcing KLIC-Sign, Taylor Communications said the patented technology marries electronic signature capture, geolocation for identity verification and streamlined workflow. The company said the service works like this: A representative of a business sends a link to the customer via email or text; the link is good for a short period of time (minutes); the website for the link determines geolocation of the signer and prevents/allows signature based on signer location; finally, the customer accesses the link and signs electronically from their own device, ensuring he or she can only sign from, say, their home, for example.

Taylor Communications is a subsidiary of Taylor Corporation, a North Mankato, MN-based business with more than 80 global subsidiaries that provide business solutions. With reported 2016 North American promotional product revenue of $226.5 million, Taylor Communications ranked sixth on Counselor’s 2017 list of the top 40 largest distributors in the ad specialty industry.
