Storm Creek Says All Products Now ‘Eco-Made’

The green-focused initiative is more evidence of the growing movement toward greater sustainability within the promotional products industry.

Storm Creek (asi/89879) is transforming waste into fashion.

It’s part of a passionate commitment to sustainability that now allows the apparel supplier in the promotional products marketplace to say that all of its products are eco-made.

Through conscientious, green-minded sourcing practices, the Eagan, MN-based company said that each item now in production is being made with recycled fabrics, insulation from post-consumer waste such as plastic bottles, sustainable components, and/or is Bluesign- or Oeko-Tex-certified.

Storm Creek, which specializes in durable outdoor apparel, reported that the new eco-friendly products are featured in its 2022 catalog – “Better Product. Better Planet. Eco Apparel for Life.”

Each item in the catalog features a bottle count that shows a range of how many recycled bottles were used to make that particular garment. Specific bottle counts are available on the supplier’s website, where distributors can also request the catalog.

“Since we began transitioning our products more than three years ago, we have saved more than 7.5 million plastic bottles from ending up in oceans and landfills,” said Storm Creek President Doug Jackson. “We continually strive to make our product better and better. To say we’re an all eco apparel company is an extremely significant milestone for us – and it’s a dream come true for me.”

Storm Creek noted that it still has to sell through some older inventory and there will be mixed stock for a time. The aim is to run through that older inventory first, but clients are encouraged to contact the Storm Creek sales team for specifics about stock.

While Storm Creek is contending with the same supply chain disruption that’s made importing and inventory replenishment more challenging and expensive for suppliers in promo and beyond, the company maintains that it has deep stock in a range of styles. It’s also offering weekly updates to distributors about deep inventory.

Storm Creek’s transition to eco-made is another example of the growing movement toward greater sustainability within the promotional products space. Certain leading suppliers have put programs in place that aim to make operations and products significantly greener. There have also been notable successes with initiatives like SwagCycle, which repurposes or recycles unwanted promotional products.

Meanwhile, distributorship collective Reciprocity Road recently launched The Accelerator Program. Through this, Reciprocity Road partners with new-to-the-industry suppliers that have an innovative focus on sustainability through the offering of environmentally compassionate, socially responsible products and services.

Back at Storm Creek, the eco focus also includes contributing to 1% for the Planet, an international organization whose members contribute at least 1% of their annual sales to environmental causes.

“Our focus as seekers of better is a world-first ethos,” said Jackson. “It’s the heart of who we are as a company.”
