CPSC Announces Recalls On Nightlight & Baby Carrier

The nightlight was available in the promo products/incentives market.

A recently recalled nightlight that poses a choking hazard to children was available for sale at retail and in the promotional products/incentives market. Between March 2018 and October 2018, the HoMedics MyBaby Comfort Creatures Giraffe Portable & Bedside Nightlight sold at Hinda Incentives and Power Sales (asi/79083), as well as online at Amazon.com and HoMedics.com, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. About 3,000 units sold over the seven-month span.

Manufactured by G & Y Company Limited of Hong Kong and imported/distributed by HoMedics USA LLC, of Commerce Township, MI, feet on the giraffe-shaped nightlight can detach, which can present a choking risk to small children, the CPSC said. There has been one incident of the feet detaching, but officials said there are no reports of choking or injury. Model MYB-N100GIR, the affected nightlights have the date code GP230118 or GP290318. The date code is located on the underside of the product. The nightlight is about three inches long, five inches wide, seven inches high, and weighs less than one pound.

For a full refund, contact HoMedics at 800 466 3342 from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Affected consumers can also go online at www.homedics.com. “Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled nightlights and contact HoMedics for a full refund,” the CPSC said in a recall statement. “HoMedics is contacting all known purchasers directly.”

In a separate case, the CPSC announced a recall on LÍLLÉbaby Active series baby carriers because a sliding chest-clip strap can detach from the shoulder strap, which can result in a child falling. One child fell as a result of the faulty strap, but was not injured. There were two other reports of chest-clip straps detaching, but no injuries were reported, the CPSC said.

Manufactured in China and imported by LÍLLÉbaby, LLC, of Golden, CO, the baby carriers sold on LILLEbaby.com and Amazon.com from September 2018 through October 2018 for about $160. Consumers purchased about 6,600 units.

Caregivers wear the carriers in question with the baby strapped into the front or back. The recalled carriers are the Active Series-Pro 6 in 1 in Space Dye Cobalt and Space Dye Grey and the Active All Seasons in Slate. “Each carrier has a yellow colored tag on the front neck support, outside of the carrier and on the back, chest clip pad, both of which have ‘LÍLLÉ’ printed in black lettering and ‘baby’ printed in white lettering on the label,” the CPSC said.

For a replacement and full refund, impacted consumers can contact LÍLLÉbaby toll-free at 855-554-5531 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT Monday through Friday. Purchasers can also email customerservice@lillebaby.com or go online at www.lillebaby.com.
