Ceases Operations, Begins Liquidation Process
a shutdown this morning," said Evers during the conference
call. "The bank has put us in default so we're actively
starting to liquidate the company today. For now, this
isn't a bankruptcy situation and hopefully our creditors
won't take legal action against the company."
"The bank has a lot of leeway in this situation because they're owed a lot of money and we can't pay them back for our loans," Evers said on the call. "They own all of our assets now and they're trying to recoup as much money as they can. So, they're not really going to be in a position to write checks to anybody right now. Vendors most likely won't see any money out of this liquidation."

Files Extortion Charges Against Union Organizations
"This RICO suit appears to be a continuation of the company's attempts to harass, bully and repress all who want to help workers gain better jobs and better lives," says UNITE HERE in a statement. "We will vigorously defend ourselves against this lawsuit."
The 104-page complaint alleges that UNITE HERE and the other unions interfered with Cintas' business relationships, instituted attacks to depress its stock value, violated its trademark name and trademark, and improperly used its name on various Web sites. The suit also consolidates a 2004 Ohio state court defamation suit against UNITE HERE that claimed it sent out a news release that appeared to have come from the federal government accusing Cintas of "widespread and major" labor violations.
Face-To-Face Marketing Takes Off
The findings are supported by another recent study, the "Branded Entertainment Marketing Forecast: 2008-2012," from PQ Media. It found spending on events, which it considers the largest segment of branded entertainment, surged 12.2% to $19.2 billion in 2007. Andrew Nisenhal, vice president of Jazz it Up (asi/234243), says he has been hearing more recently from clients who regularly utilize events. "A lot of people don't like the results they get from ads, they want to hand customers something to remember them by at the booth or do a mailer program to entice them to follow up with them. Plus these programs are measurable. As long as you put together a good program, you can show good results."
An increased focus on return-on-investment is one of the factors driving the trend, says Liz Bigham, director of marketing for Jack Morton. "People's jobs are on the line if they spend money on the wrong things. We're in an environment where there's a lot of pressure to be efficient with their dollars."
