The latest – at least at this writing – was Ivan, a category five which slammed not only the Florida panhandle, but Mobile, AL, leaving many without shelter or power. New Name For Equity; New Stock Listing For Huffy A couple of nominal changes to industry-related companies. First there’s EMAK Worldwide, the new name for Equity Marketing Inc., which is an unlisted firm that is nonetheless known in the promotional products industry for having purchased promotion marketing firm Upshot from Counselor Top 40 distributor HALO/Lee Wayne (asi/218450) during the distributor’s bankruptcy.
Then there’s Huffy Sports (asi/62020), which didn’t change its name, but switched its stock symbol. The symbol is HUFC.PK, which marks a move by the supplier to the over-the-counter stock market after it was faced with delisting by the New York Stock Exchange.
ASI Announces Relationship With FASTSIGNS The Advertising Specialty Institute, the publisher of PromoGram, will be providing information and technology to FASTSIGNS International Inc., the retail franchising operation that provides custom signs and graphic products. FASTSIGNS officials said promotional products are an extension of their product line.
Companies In The News Joe Moore, president of Your Name Here (asi/365415), was the topic of a recent Pittsburgh Leader-Times article, which discussed not only his firm and the industry, but how he established the company after being laid off following 9/11.
The Houston Chronicle ran a piece extolling the creativity that often goes into the application of promotional products to specific promotional needs. Gary Chisum of Cutting Edge Advertising (asi/173456) is mentioned and quoted, but the piece is actually dominated by a non-member company: UVS Enterprises and its president, Steve Wiley.
