Lederer Hands Over CEO Reins; Remains As Chairman Bob Lederer, founder of Counselor Top 40 supplier Prime Resources Corp. (asi/79530), is stepping down as president and CEO but will remain as the company's chairman. The firm's new president, Rick Brenner, has been a consultant to Prime for several years. Lederer says he made the change so he could concentrate on the things he does best. “I know what my pleasures are in life,”
he says. “Buying, selling and turning lemons into lemonade.” For his part, Brenner plans to be active with Prime. “We have a ways to go to bring the level of customer service to what I think we could do,” he says, noting he wants to implement a Six Sigma system, which is quality-control scheme developed by Motorola and used a lot among Fortune 500 companies. It emphasizes zero-defect practices. “It's quite widespread among Fortune 50, Fortune 500 companies, but small companies typically don't implement it,” Brenner notes.
