The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced separate recalls on women’s scarves from Wrapables, Inc. of Fremont, CA, and a bath toy for children from Munchkin, Inc. of Van Nuys, CA. No injuries have been reported in connection with the recalls and no ASI-listed firms were named in the CPSC notices.

The Munchkin’s product is a one-piece, multi-colored “Waterpede” bath toy that looks like a centipede. It allows water to be scooped from the top and to then flow through the chambers of the product to the bottom.

The CPSC said the toy is prone to breaking apart, exposing small parts, such as beads, that are a choking hazard. Made in China, about 72,000 units sold online at munchkin.com and at stores that include Babies R’ Us and Target between September 2015 and January 2018. The cost of the Waterpede ranged from $5 to $7.

The other recall involves 100% silk women’s scarves that fail to meet federal flammability standards for clothing, therefore posing a risk of burn injuries to wearers. Measuring 65” long by 21” wide, the scarves sold at Amazon.com, Walmart.com and Wrapables.com from March 2014 through March 2018 for between $10 and $20. About 1,900 units were purchased.

Made in China, the scarves feature a small side seam label with “100% silk” printed on it. The scarves were sold in the following colors: Azure Blue, Bright Fuchsia, Brown Corn Silk Cream, Dark Blue, Floral White, Lime Green, Midnight Black, Orchid Purple, Peony Pink, Rose Red, Sky Blue, and Tangerine Orange. On Amazon.com, the recalled scarves sold as “Wrapables Lightweight 100% Silk Butterfly Print Long Scarf.”

The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the scarves and bath toy.
