The ASI Promocar is bound for the open road. On display this week at The ASI Show Long Beach near the Social Lounge, the car departs California March 30 on a 2,700-mile journey across 12 states.
The ASI Promocar (hashtag #ASIpromocar) is a Mazda Protégé that ASI employees covered inside and out with hundreds of promotional products donated by ASI suppliers, including zombie stress balls, cell phone holders, keychains, pens, car magnets, pinwheels, celebrity face cut-outs, USBs, badges, lanyards, can coolers, light up ice cubes and flip flops.
The cross-country trip is part of a year-long ASI public relations campaign called “Driving Serious Fun,” designed to drive attention to $21.5 billion promotional products industry and to spread the word about the industry’s creativity and ingenuity through positive publicity and social media. Anyone who sees the Promocar during its eight-day trip should tweet a pic with the hashtag #ASIpromocar to score a “Driving Serious Fun” T-shirt. Follow the car along the way through pics and blog posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and on ASI’s website, www.asicentral.com.
“It’s been wonderful to see people have a little fun with our moving billboard and to meet face-to-face with suppliers, distributors and decorators as well as end-buyers to talk to them about the affordable, high-ROI products that fuel our industry,” said Tim Andrews, president and CEO of ASI. “At a time when we conduct so much business electronically, it’s great to get out of the office and hit the road, especially in a car that’s the epitome of ‘mobile’ advertising.”
The Promocar expects to travel along I-40 and Rt. 66 most of the way, making stops in Flagstaff, AZ, Santa Fe, NM, Oklahoma City, OK, Memphis, TN, Asheville, NC, and Floyd, VA, before it travels north on I-81 and the PA Turnpike. The car will eventually end its trip in Stockton, NJ, on or around April 8, before returning to ASI headquarters outside Philadelphia, PA.
To date, the Promocar has been on display at ASI trade shows in Chicago and Orlando and May 5-6 will be showcased at the Javits Center at the ASI Show® New York. Everywhere it goes, people are invited inside to sign the interior and take samples of promotional products like pens and stress balls.
