Proforma Unveils New Acquisition Company

Top 40 distributor Proforma (asi/300094) has formally announced the creation of a new division that will directly purchase packaging, print, and promotional products companies. 

Named The Proforma Acquisition Company, the division is set up to buy firms ranging in size “from $5 million to $100 million and more in sales,” according to a Proforma statement. The approach marks a change for Proforma, as previously the Ohio-based company has largely only pursued smaller industry acquisitions on behalf of its owners. Many of those deals were for companies with annual sales of $5 million or less.

“Proforma has substantial financial and operational resources and is capable of negotiating and closing transactions of all sizes and types,” said Greg Muzzillo, Proforma’s founder. “Selling a business can seem like a daunting task for any business owner, and when you have a large company, there are even more complexities involved. Proforma offers sellers peace of mind knowing the business they built is in the capable hands of people who know the industry, understand their business and can carry on their legacy. We also have the flexibility to offer a wide range of options to businesses seeking strategic alternatives to an outright sale.”

Counselor ranks Proforma as the third-largest distributor in the industry, after the firm reported 2016 North American promo products sales of $368.9 million.
