Cintas Acquires Doritex

Doritex is a Western New York firm that specializes in providing uniforms, custom embroidery, corporate image apparel and more.

Cintas (asi/162167), the 14th largest distributor by revenue in the North American promotional products industry, has acquired Doritex Corp., an Alden, NY-based uniform provider whose solutions also include branded corporate image apparel and custom embroidery. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

Based in Mason, OH, publicly traded Cintas completed the purchase of family-owned Doritex on Jan. 17. Cintas executives said the plan is to hire all of Doritex’s industrial workers who have provided service to the Buffalo, NY area marketplace. Alden is near Buffalo. Cintas intends to keep the current Doritex facility open. Doritex has been in business since 1920.

“Although our two companies have been competitors over the years in this market, Cintas has a lot of respect for Doritex’s history and heritage, for the way they take care of their customers and for the way they live out their values,” Todd Schneider, Cintas executive vice president & COO, said in a statement. “We believe there is a lot of common ground between our two companies that will allow us to build a strong foundation for a very successful future.”

Jim Doro, now the former owner of Doritex, said that Cintas’ size and scale – more than 400 operations across the U.S. and Canada – will enable the firm to invest in Doritex.

“After a comprehensive search, Cintas emerged as the best steward for Doritex’s industrial business,” Doro said in a statement. “Since its inception in 1920, Doritex has been family owned and operated, proudly serving Buffalo and the surrounding Western New York area. Although Cintas is a public company, CEO Scott Farmer is the fourth generation of his family to run the company. Cintas has a well-established company culture and values that align with ours.”

With estimated 2018 North American promotional products revenue of $173.2 million, Cintas ranked 14th on Counselor’s latest list of the largest distributors in the industry.
