Fauci Bobblehead Raises $200k for Healthcare Workers

Two new Fauci-themed bobbleheads are on preorder. They will also raise money to support healthcare professionals.

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum has revealed that a bobblehead it produced of Dr. Anthony Fauci has raised more than $200,000 to aid in the fight against COVID-19.

The museum generated the money by donating $5 from every Fauci bobblehead sale to the American Hospital Association’s Protect the Heroes Campaign in support of the 100 Million Mask Challenge and other initiatives that protect healthcare workers on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic. Other bobbleheads, including one of Dr. Deborah Birx, helped generate an additional $70,000 in donations for the cause.

Given the success of the Fauci bobblehead charitable initiative, the Milwaukee, WI-based museum has created two more Fauci bobbleheads that are now available for preorder. The first commemorates the Fauci “facepalm” incident from earlier this year, while the second features the original Fauci bobble design with a red tie. The museum will continue to donate $5 from every purchase to Protect the Heroes.

“After releasing the first bobblehead of Dr. Fauci, we received a lot of requests for a facepalm version, and when the original bobblehead sold out, we wanted to give a few options for the many people out there just finding out that a Dr. Fauci bobblehead exists,” said National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar. “We look forward to raising more funds and awareness for the Protect the Heroes Campaign during these unprecedented times.”

Fauci, 79, is the executive director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. A central figure on global health issues like HIV/AIDS, Ebola and Zika, Fauci has been the medical expert at the forefront of the U.S. battle against coronavirus.

The “facepalm” theme of the one new bobblehead arises from a press briefing in March in which Fauci appeared to chuckle and cover his face with his hand in reference to something President Donald Trump said. Fauci said he was only covering his face because a lozenge was stuck in his throat, but the image went viral.
