The Community Shield (left) and the Health Care Shield are being manufactured by Omnify Lighting in Toronto to meet the PPE needs of frontline workers and the public.

Omnify Lighting, based in Toronto with additional manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles, now offers new “OnGuard” face shields that the team has designed and built over the past several weeks after Ontario Premier Doug Ford called for manufacturers to help bridge the PPE supply gap..

After researching what was currently being offered on the market, leadership at Omnify, which includes five former executives from Trimark Sportswear (asi/92122), determined that they had the necessary high-quality materials, production equipment and skilled labor on-hand to turn supplies around quickly. They’re now offering a Community Shield and the longer-length Health Care Shield for extra protection for doctors and nurses. Both styles feature a scratch-resistant shield component and adjustable headband..

“I’m grateful for our team’s efforts and their willingness to be flexible and adaptable to the current environment, which seems to change daily,” said CEO Will Andrew in a statement. “We’ve added two manufacturing shifts and are working with local businesses to enhance our production capacity, We also teamed up with a number of doctors in Scarborough, part of a grassroots movement called Conquer COVID-19, to test the product and provide design iterations to make it even better.”

The company is actively contacting companies in Canada, including hospitals, First Nation healthcare professionals, non-governmental organizations and international non-profits to get the shields to people in Canada and in other countries, including the U.S..
