I was hoping to wait a little longer to turn the heat on in our house, but no such luck. Friday and Saturday night was downright chilly (we'll blame the effects of Hurricane Joaquin), and I donned my favorite flannel PJ pants, in addition to turning on the heat. Now that the temperatures are dropping, it's the perfect time to start talking outerwear and other cold-weather gear with clients.

Warm Up Your Pup The Pitch: My two pooches, Daisy and Charlie, are drama queens when it comes to the cold. If I put them outside and the temperature is below 60 degrees, they immediately huddle together with their noses pressed against the patio door, and Charlie begins howling. Really? Keep in mind Charlie is 65 pounds. Both pups could benefit from this cool Dog Zipper Sweater from Atteff International Inc. (asi/37455), which comes in a variety of colors and has cotton knit collar and cuffs and a zippered opening. Pricing as low as $11 (R). The Bottom Line: Dog charities and pet stores would both be candidates for these fashion-forward jackets.
Bleacher Blanket The Pitch: People love fleece blankets. Just ask the woman who attended my daughter's soccer game on a chilly day last week. She had one wrapped around her head, a second around her waist and a third around her feet. Fans can cheer on their favorite team in warmth with this Anti-Pilling Fleece Blanket from Logomark Inc. (asi/67866), which comes in 13 different colors (making it easy to match it to a team's colors). The blanket is 50" X 60" and has whipstitch edging. Pricing as low as $13.50 (R). The Bottom Line: Ideal for sports team fundraisers and holiday gifts.
Branding Opportunity The Pitch: It's a fact: According to ASI's Ad Impressions Study, consumers who receive promotional jackets keep them for more than 18 months. That's a lot of exposure for your logo or brand. This Women's Martinriver Jacket from Trimark Canada (asi/92122) would be a highly-coveted item in any company store or incentive program. It's water-repellent and has an anti-static fabric. Pricing as low as $99.85 (R). The Bottom Line: End-users who receive this item as a gift or incentive will hold on to it for months – even years – to come.
Toasty Tootsies The Pitch: Here's a fun winter item that recipients will love: Ladies' Fuzzy Socks With Stripes from Dollar Days Inc (asi/50287). They come in a wide variety of fun colors, and are guaranteed to keep those toes toasty. Come in packs of 120 pairs, priced as low as $2.92 (P) per pair. The Bottom Line: These make great reasonable-priced corporate gifts, as well as sorority and fraternity giveaways.
