The Comfort Wear line from Marathon Mfg. & Supply Co. (asi/68707; circle 81 on Free Info Card) offers the look of scrub tops (68707-SWSO) and pants (68707-SWPO) but with relaxed jersey knit fabric for the dorm room and beyond.
There’s a big difference between a hospital room and a dorm room, yet they both share one thing in common: scrubs, which are frequently worn in both environments. In fact, there are styles completely devoted to promotional use rather than workwear.
Renee Edwards, general manager at Marathon Mfg. & Supply Co. (asi/68707), lists a variety of potential clients for the “relaxed” version of scrubs. Schools and camps, for example, are important markets. Scrubs make a good fundraiser for teams as well as cheer and dance squads. Work-from-home professionals enjoy a bit of comfort while working late. Customized scrubs are also great souvenirs for resorts and tourist destinations.
Of course when scrubs crossover to loungewear, comfort is key. “Our most popular current trend in the scrub area is our offering of ‘Comfort Wear,’ which is based on the scrubwear pattern of clothing but is made of a poly/cotton jersey-knit fabric instead of the more traditional broadcloth,” says Edwards. “The Comfort Wear line is a softer version that is excellent for leisure wear. It offers the same comfort level as regular scrubs in an updated fabric.”
Marathon’s standard ScrubWear is available in 17 stock colors and can be custom-made to order. They are available in plain, one-location print and all-over print, and come in a full fit for roomy comfort. The standard styles for both Comfort Wear and ScrubWear are a V-neck style top with elastic waist pants. “Pockets can be added to tops and bottoms,” Edwards says, “and the bottoms can also have a drawstring waist as well as elasticized hem. We also will customize inseams when requested.”
