A: Lion Circle is a premier supplier of paper, plastic and magnetic items in the promotional products and advertising specialties industry. It began as a matchbook manufacturer in 1917, originally called Lion Corporation of America which was one of the original manufacturers of matches in the United States. In 1990, due to the lagging sales of the matchbook manufacturing and the anti-smoking sentiment, Lion Match diversified from matchbook sales into paper hand fans. Toward the end of the 1990s, after selling off the matchbook manufacturing, the company changed to Lion Circle Corporation.
Through the years, the company continued to grow and add new product lines of buttons, posters and keychains into the mix. In 2007, the company acquired the HaPi line, which included customizable paper hats, headwear, banks and customizable die-cuts. In 2011, Lion Circle acquired SAM line, which added magnets and plastic products to the mix. We continually strive to develop products to better serve our customers.
Which products are hot sellers right now?
A: Our hot products right now are fans, since we are in the summer months and we are well known for being the Counselor Award-Winning Fan Supplier for the past five years. In addition to fans, we have introduced a mobile technology product line including our cell phone amplifier, which allows you to insert your phone to pump up the volume when you are listening to music and an earbud holder to wrap up your headphones so they are not tangled in your backpack or purse. We have also introduced a series of gift card holders with many different styles. And, our food items, such as the popcorn boxes, continue to be good sellers with a stock or custom design for almost any event or occasion. Lastly, we are willing to work with our customers to make customized products.
What are some of the top markets for your products?
A: With low price points, our products can be used in any market. We call our fans mini billboards, so anyone looking for a highly visible product that will stand out at an event is an appropriate target. People looking to give away items to large groups and for outdoor events are some of the larger clients. Our products work well in stadiums, outdoor events, fairs, festivals, etc.
What makes your products unique?
A: We use high-quality materials for inexpensive products that can be distributed to a mass audience at a good price point. We will work with the client to create that custom product they need.
What features should distributor sales reps note when pitching your products?
A: We are a quality manufacturer with our products all made in the USA. Our products are CPSIA friendly. We are willing to go the extra mile to design and develop products specifically for the client. Most of our products’ standard production times are 5-7 business days, and we are willing to do things quicker if requested.
How have your products been used in specific promotions?
A: One of our more recent projects was a custom Spiderman fan used at the movie premier (see above). How cool is that?
