1. Recognize Achievements
Employees need to feel appreciated for their hard work, especially in larger companies where they may feel like just a number. It’s important to take a moment to speak to an individual or write them an email expressing your gratitude for their efforts. Conversely, if an employee is underperforming or overwhelmed, take a moment to encourage them or offer advice.

2. Build Teamwork
Teamwork makes the dream work! Break up the monotony of the daily grind by instituting some group activities and team-building exercises among your staff. Whether it’s getting out of the office for drinks or setting up a mini golf course in the hallway, allowing opportunities for your employees to socialize can lead to renewed vigor in the company.

3. Provide Incentives
You can’t give everybody a promotion, but you can give them incentives. They don’t have to be expensive – just tokens of appreciation for a job well done. A paid day off, early dismissal, gift cards or even a free lunch will boost your employees’ spirits.

4. Offer Advancement
Some people grow tired of doing the same tasks every day. Their careers will stagnate, leaving them unfulfilled and potentially seeking options elsewhere. To avoid boredom, they need new challenges. By offering promotions or educational advancement, you can keep employees stimulated. A new job title can cure those workplace blues.

5. Liven Up Their Surroundings
Most Americans don’t believe in Feng Shui – the ancient Chinese art of redesigning physical spaces to increase energy forces – but the message behind the practice still rings true. A dull, dreary office can dampen anyone’s creative juices. Consider an open space, or at least add informal gathering places to foster collaboration and create instant communication between your staff.

6. Promote Giving Back
Companies that make an effort to volunteer for charities will energize their workforces. People thrive at their jobs when they know they’re making a difference in the lives of others. Workers respond favorably when given occasional time off for service.
