How To Leverage Marketing To Grow Your Client Base

Interviews with the brightest minds in business. This month: Megan Yelaney, life and business coach.

Q: What are some online marketing strategies you recommend when promoting a new product?
A: I like to invite customers to a free webinar that teaches something really specific and can be tied into the product launch. Because they feel they learned something, they want to invest in the next step. I also recommend doing the webinar live so there’s a sense of urgency and excitement. Make sure you give people notice ahead of time so they don’t miss it.

Megan Yelaney is a life and business coach who’s built three online coaching businesses in the past two years using social media strategy and client attraction systems. The New York resident is also the creator of Client Attraction University, a 10-week group program to help online coaches gain more targeted ideal clients consistently.

Q: How can social media platforms help grow a client base?
A: Finding people on Instagram and Facebook is a great way to build relationships, especially Facebook groups. If you’re targeting the health and fitness market, a visual platform like Pinterest, for example, is a great driver of consumer engagement.

Q: What’s a topic that you’ve taught in your webinar?
A: How to build your client base. I talk about the importance of compiling an email list and growing engagement on Facebook and Instagram. It’s also helpful to take a snippet of the webinar and share it on those platforms to show other people what they’re missing out on and to promote the product launch. The email list builds up trust and a sense of community, instantly connecting you with customers.

Q: Instagram is a popular platform right now. How can brands use it to drive sales?
A: Focus on what your brand stands for. Explain what the mission of your company is and what your product represents. Explain or show what it will do for your customer’s life. Apparel is a great product to be shown on Instagram.

Q: Is blogging still a relevant tool in growing your business?
A: It depends on your business. If you’re selling something niche, a blog can be beneficial. You really can reach people searching for specific terms; Google Analytics will bring them to you. But don’t start blogging because you feel you have to – people can tell whether you’re passionate or not.
