Jayne Miller, the former CEO of Shumsky Enterprises (asi/326300), died on March 6. She was 78.
Miller worked at Shumsky for 40 years and was known throughout the industry for her tenacity, creativity and sales skills. Mentored by her parents, Hy and Elsie Shumsky, Miller built her company into one of the leading promotional firms in the country, and was a pioneer in product development, even obtaining multiple patents. Under Miller's leadership, Shumsky was named one of the Top 500 Woman Owned Businesses in the U.S. in 2001 by Working Woman Magazine. Miller was also a noted philanthropist, passionately supporting under-privileged and disadvantaged children.
Miller was preceded in death by her husband, James, and her parents. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Maureen Emoff, Michael and Anita Emoff, Tom Emoff, and Mitchell and Kelly Emoff, as well as 13 grandchildren. Services for Miller were held on March 10 at Temple Israel in Dayton, OH. Memorial contributions may be made in Miller's name to The Hospice of Dayton.
