Ganz Recalls Plush Grumpy Cat Animal Toys
Toy Eyes Could Be Dangerous To Kids
Georgia-based Ganz USA, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, has recalled three styles of plush Grumpy Cat animal toys because of a potential choking hazard. The recalled items, which are multi-colored in white with dark brown, light brown and gray fur material, include an eight-inch plush cat in a laying position, a five-inch long sitting cat and a four-inch key clip.
According to Ganz, about 8,200 plush cats were sold in gift, drug and toy stores nationwide between December of 2013 and the end of January 2014 for about $8 to $10 each. To date, Ganz has received six reports of the eyes of Grumpy Cat toys detaching, although no injuries are cited in the recall notification. If ingested, the toy eyes could be dangerous to small children, officials said. The toys were manufactured in China and distributed by Ganz, which is not an ASI-listed supplier and not believed to be selling items within the ad specialty industry.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled toys away from children and contact Ganz for a free replacement Grumpy Cat product or a refund. Ganz can be contacted at (800) 724-5902 or through its website at www.Ganz.com.
