Top 40 supplier Ennis (asi/52493) announced this week that it acquired Mutual Graphics, which is based in Knoxville, TN. The print company, which was part of the Sovereign Business Forms acquisition that Ennis had announced two months ago, has a facility in Knoxville that will now be merged with Ennis’ existing facility there.
“Considering the close proximity of the two locations we are taking the opportunity to integrate production into one facility,” Ennis said in a statement. “Therefore, Ennis is announcing the consolidation of these two businesses into the Mutual Graphics facility, no later than the end of September, 2014. Employees affected by this consolidation will be considered for employment at any other Ennis location, if they desire.”
The Mutual Graphics brand was one of five that Ennis acquired in June when it closed on its purchase of Sovereign Business Forms. According to a statement from Ennis at the time, the acquired companies generated total sales of approximately $27.1 million in 2013. All of the businesses involved in the agreement will continue to operate under their current trade names and remain in their existing locations. “With these acquisitions we are close to operating 50 print locations throughout the United States,” said Keith Walters, president and CEO of Ennis.
Based in Midlothian, TX, Ennis reported 2013 North American ad specialty sales of $239 million, a year-over-year increase of 1.6%.
