For the November issue of Stitches, Senior Writer Theresa Hegel traveled to Port Washington, a town on Long Island, to check out Spectrum Designs. The screen-printing and embroidery shop has made a mission of training and employing individuals on the autism spectrum. She spoke with Patrick Bardsley, president and co-founder, about what makes Spectrum so special, and why it's important for adults with autism and other developmental disorders to find meaningful, paying work.
