New iPhone Case Inspired By Human Posterior

HandL’s “Maximus, aka the Butt Case” aims to offer users an ergonomically enhanced means of holding onto their iPhones.

This iPhone case got back.

And since the Sir Mix-a-Lot reference of that first line might be lost on some, let’s be a bit clearer: HandL’s case for iPhone 6 Plus/7 Plus is inspired by – and shaped like – the buttocks.

LOL…Nah, we’re not messing with you. It really is.

As you can see here, the case is called the “MAXIMUS, aka the Butt Case.”

New iPhone Case Inspired By Human Posterior

It was invented by Allen Hirsch. He seems like a cool guy. An artist (and restaurant owner), Allen created the HandL iPhone case to make it easier to hold your phone without dropping it. The typical HandL product is flat-blacked and made distinctive by a patented brace and elastic system, which empowers users to keep easy hold of their smartphone with just one or a couple fingers. Bonus points: It also converts into a kickstand.

Well, the Butt Case has that nifty system too, but that ain’t all. Its back is outfitted with butt-cheekesque undulations, surfaced in soft leather and infused with silicone, that add an ergonomic enhancement to your phone-gripping experience. (Ooh la la!)

Make no mistake: The posterior aesthetic was quite intentional.

In a press release to CNET, Hirsch reportedly expounded thus: “Touching the buttocks has been one of the most pleasant tactile experiences I have known. It is ergonomic, soft and comfortable to rest one’s hand against. Juxtaposing the electronic screen and its ethereal digital world with the real world tactile goal of a buttocks became my obsession.”

You go, boy!

Introduced at CES in January, the Butt Case is available for $70.

It hasn’t entered the promotional products industry yet, but we could see how branding the Butt Case could take off. Tech companies, trucking companies, teams, fitness centers, healthcare institutions – heck, anyone who wants to help their end-users get a better grip on their phone in a, uh, uniquely ergonomic way could be interested.

Hopefully the Butt Case will become available in the branded merchandise space sooner than later. It certainly has our backing.
