Grayson replaces former CEO Paula Schneider, who resigned in October following an eventful two years at the highly scrutinized apparel brand. A lawyer by trade, who specializes in mergers and acquisitions (and who had no previous background in apparel prior to joining the company in November 2014), Grayson will likely shepherd American Apparel through its search for a new owner.
