Tee Time
By Jessie Weisgal
This T-shirt showcase is perfect for everybody. We asked 10 suppliers to give us three different T-shirts: one men’s, one ladies’ and one for kids. Here’s what they came up with.
T-shirts have been the essential all-American wardrobe staple for decades. They are sold in almost every retail store and are in almost every closet. They are also one of the most popular promotional products in the market today. In fact, while apparel makes up about a third of all ad specialty sales, T-shirts alone account for 35% of all wearables sales in the industry.
The various styles, colors and fabrics have kept the T-shirt hip and fresh. Now we have raglan, tie-dye, cap sleeve, V-neck, scoopneck and crewneck among other styles. Ladies have the option for a more feminine fit and there are sizes available that fit people of all ages, from seniors to toddlers. With all of the variations in the styles and decorations, you have an ever-changing product that can be anything from a classic to the latest trend.
Remember message tees? More than a few consumers picked up a celebrity-inspired “Team Aniston” or “Team Jolie” T-shirt. This pop-culture phenomenon gave consumers everything from “Relax Don’t Do It” to “Don’t Tase Me, Bro!” If it happened in recent history, there’s probably a T-shirt for it.
Graphic tees are one of the more recent trends to hit retail shelves. Rather than an obvious logo or catch phrase, graphic tees offer a more hip, ambiguous design. Companies can try incorporating their logo into a funky graphic for a modern appeal. Get an organization’s employees or members involved with a design contest. Invite participants to design a shirt around a theme or message and then vote on entries.
Perfect for occasions ranging from a kids’ school fundraiser to a corporate sales incentive trip, T-shirts are versatile enough to appeal to people of all ages, male or female. That’s why we’ve put this showcase together. On the following pages, you’ll find shirts grouped in sets of three. Within each set, there’s a shirt for a man, one for a woman, and one for a kid. Consider this our something-for-everybody product showcase.
