A Month’s Worth Of Creative Dates For Innovative Marketing
March 2009

National Umbrella Month - Staying dry
March is not only National Umbrella Month, but March 20 signals the beginning of spring. Spring showers can certainly put a damper on the workday. What better way to keep employees and clients happy than by keeping them dry? Give away umbrellas with your company logo.

March 2: Birth Anniversary of Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel) - One fish, two fish…
Celebrate your favorite classics, like The Cat in the Hat and How the Grinch Stole Christmas by having employees come up with their own short rhymes. Invite them to share their work and vote on the most original. Bookmarks are a good way to reward those who participate. Make sure you provide them with a logoed pen and notepad to get started.

March 3: I Want You to be Happy Day - Bring a little sunshine
Do you know of anyone who is a little stressed at work? Let them know you’re thinking of them with a fun stress reliever ball.

March 6: Birth Anniversary of Michelangelo - Sculptor, painter, architect, poet
One of the most famous artists in history, Michelangelo painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican in Rome, Italy. Art suppliers may want to take notice of this day to promote specials on their products.

March 14: Birth Anniversary, Albert Einstein - E=mc2
Not everyone is a genius with math, let alone theoretical physics. Help your employees do quick calculations by providing them with calculators with your company logo.

March 17: St. Patrick’s Day - Erin Go Bragh
A little luck can go a long way, so use this day to send your best clients Irish themed – think shamrocks – promotional products. Or treat your employees to a luncheon with Irish stew or corned beef and cabbage.

March 18: National Biodiesel Day - Clean and green
This day celebrates the birth of Rudolph Diesel, who invented the diesel engine and unveiled it at the World’s Fair in 1900. Originally, the engine was designed to run on peanut oil. Celebrate this cleaner-burning fuel by handing out green giveaways, such as bio-degradable pens, soy candles or other environmentally friendly products.

March 22: Anniversary of the Laser Patent - Zap!
Employees can use logoed laser pointers during presentations to draw attention to key speaking points.

March 24: Birth Anniversary of Harry Houdini - Abracadabra!
The famous magician and escape artist was an inspiration to millions. You can give your employees their own “magic” tricks and gadgets with your company’s logo.

March 26: Make Up Your Own Holiday Day - “Insert your company name here”
Now is your chance to have your own company holiday. Have your employees pick a theme for the day and build on it. Whether it’s Balloon Day or Post-It Day, make sure you have products on hand to support whatever you choose.

March 27: Quirky Country Music Song Titles Day - “I wear tight fittin’ jeans…”
After creating some of your own song titles, hand out prepaid music cards so people can choose some of their own favorite tunes.

March 30: Anniversary of the Pencil Patent - You know, what we used before computers
Always looking for something to write with? Provide pencils with your company logo to your employees or hand them out to students at local schools.

March 31: Anniversary of the Eiffel Tower - Le service est compris?
This tower is one of the world’s best-known landmarks and a symbol of France. What better way to recognize France than enjoying some of its fine cuisine? A French cookbook or a pair of potholders would be appreciated by any food connoisseur.
