Superb Case Acquires Jadco Vol. 873
December 6, 2011
Bidding to
“significantly” increase sales, H & M Industries LLC,
the parent company of Rhode Island-based supplier Superb Case (asi/90230), has purchased the assets
of Jadco, Exclusive Findings and Sprague
Industries. Financial terms of the deal, which was formally negotiated during the
last six months, were not disclosed. “They were a friendly competitor and it
was perfect timing,” said Alan Horovitz, president of
Superb Case, in an interview yesterday with Counselor.
“They have a lot of very talented people and some great customers, so it was a
win-win. We’re picking up additional products and we’ll be able to
diversify.”
According to Horovitz, Superb Case has hired “a handful of people” from
the companies it acquired to support manufacturing, customer service and
administrative duties. Currently, Superb Case employs 40 people and maintains a
factory in North Providence. Its product line includes
bookmarks, ornaments, plate frames, golf accessories and luggage tags, among
other items. This acquisition is the supplier’s fourth in the last 11 years,
following deals with W.A.P. Watson (in 2000), Romac
(2006) and Rawcliffe (2007).
Without
discussing specifics, Horovitz says his company
increased sales “a bit” in 2011. Superb Case’s total revenues are below $5
million annually, according to Horovitz. “We’re a
progressive company with a great future in front of us,” he said. “We’re unique
and we have good importing capabilities. With this new deal, we expect to
really be able to grow.” |
