Cutter & Buck Names New CEO


Top 40 supplier Cutter & Buck (asi/47965) has named Joel Freet its new CEO, replacing Jens Petersson, who has taken a position at parent company New Wave Group AB. Previously, Freet led several business channels at the Seattle-based apparel company, including its corporate, international, and licensing segments.

“Joel is a natural business leader with great knowledge of the company and he has worked as an advocate to improve our results, services, and position in the marketplace,” Petersson said. “Joel embodies Cutter & Buck’s values, is dedicated to the brand, our customers and associates, and will ensure we stay focused on the things that make this company great.”

Freet, who has worked at Cutter & Buck for the last 15 years, is charged with growing the company’s platform of brands that include CBUK, ANNIKA and Clique. “The quality and value of Cutter & Buck products is strong, and we have some of the most dedicated consumers in the marketplace.” Freet said. “Our intense focus is on bringing exceptional branded apparel to the market.”

Founded in 1989, Cutter & Buck offers apparel for golf, corporate, collegiate and professional sports, as well as specialty retail and promotional markets. The company has partnerships or licenses with the NFL, NCAA, MLB, PGA of America, USGA, PGA Tour and USTA. Cutter & Buck recently reported to Counselor that it had 2013 North American ad specialty sales of $56.5 million, a year-over-year increase of 2.7%.
