Walter Jung, the founder of Europe’s PSI Institute and PSI Tradeshow, has died. He was 79.
A global ambassador for the ad specialty industry, Jung was an especially key figure in building a market for promotional products in Europe. He established the PSI Institute in 1960 and its show two years later. Up until his passing, he worked to expand the influence of the organization in various roles, gaining a voice respected by everyone from industry professionals to government officials in Germany.
“Walter Jung supported us as a consultant, as a partner and, above all, as a loyal friend,” said Michael Freter, CEO of PSI. “One particular occasion which we look back on fondly, despite today’s sad news, was the 50th anniversary celebration of the PSI in 2010 at which Walter Jung’s lifetime achievement was honored with a standing ovation.”
