Executive Team
Norman
Cohn, chairman of ASI, was born in Waterloo, Iowa
in 1933. He was a senior in high school when he
first became involved with promotional products
as a Distributor. Then, at the University of Northern
Iowa, Cohn moved over to the Supplier side of the
business. By the late 1950’s his family owned
the largest Supplier in the promotional products
industry. |

In 1962, the Cohn family sold off their Supplier interests
and acquired ASI. Fifteen years later, the Cohns introduced
technology to the industry as they began developing
computer software (ASI Computer), CD ROM and DVD (ESP),
the Internet, (ASInternet), and, more recently, computer
integration between Suppliers and Distributors (ASItransact).
Cohn has served on numerous boards, including as
an officer of the Young Presidents’ Organization.
He was an officer of the Great American Achievements
Program, a member of the Board of Overseers at the
University of Pennsylvania Museum, and represented
the state of Pennsylvania on the Commemoration of
the Bicentennial of the Constitution, and was the
chairman of the Bicentennial Council of the Thirteen
Original States.

Cohn is a frequent speaker at national and international
conferences. He and his wife Suzanne have been married
for 44 years. They have five children, who are active
in ASI activities, and are the proud grandparents
of 10 grandchildren.

Vice Chairman of the ASI Family of Companies (composed of The ASI Show!®, ASI Computer Systems®, and ASI®), Matthew Cohn has launched businesses in publishing, e-commerce, tradeshows and medical information. In 1988, he led the team that developed ESP, which quickly became the industry's most widely used research tool. In 1998, he launched The ASI Show! and made the Tradeshow 200, a listing of the largest shows in the U.S., the same year. The show has been recognized in the Tradeshow Week Fastest 50 as one of the fastest-growing shows in North America. Three times, Wharton named The ASI Show! to the Philadelphia 100 as one of 100 fastest-growing, privately held companies. The company made the INC 500 as the 153rd fastest-growing private company in America.
Cohn has also served as President, Education Chair, and Treasurer of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization and is on the board of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Young President's Organization (YPO). The Philadelphia Business Journal recognized him in their "40 Under 40" awards, and he was named among the "Top 100 People to Watch" by Business Philadelphia magazine, as well as one of the "100 Most Influential People" in the tradeshow industry by Tradeshow Week.
Additionally, Matthew is on the Board and Chair of the Audit Committee of The Bancorp Bank (NASDAQ:TBBK) and sits on the boards of CADE, a Philadelphia non-profit helping children make smart decisions and SISO, the Society of Independent Show Organizers.
He has been a featured speaker at national conferences such as American Society of Association Executives, Direct Marketing Association, Internet World, Annual Catalog Conference, Seybold Seminars, International Association of Exposition Managers, and SISO.
Cohn is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business with a dual concentration in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Management, as well as the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in Economics. He and his wife Lea have two children, Sydney and Mackenzie.

Timothy M. Andrews is president and chief executive officer of the Advertising Specialty Institute, president of The ASI Show, and vice chairman of ASI Computer Systems, Inc.
ASI is the largest marketing and media organization serving the $18 billion advertising specialty industry; The ASI Show produces five national promotional products trade shows, 70 Advantages Roadshows and three Stitches Roadshows; and ASI Computer Systems, Inc. is a provider of innovative accounting and systems software to the industry.
Andrews was recruited to join ASI as president in 2003 and is responsible for the strategic vision and all operations of ASI, which has nearly 25,000 customers in North America using a variety of its magazines, catalogs, online research and data services, marketing tools, educational resources and trade shows.
Under his leadership, the company’s product line has expanded and he drove the company’s first acquisition of three complementary magazines. Profitable and dynamic accompanying digital e-media have been developed and marketed for all seven publications.
Prior to joining ASI, Andrews served as chief executive officer of Primedia Business Magazines, the second-largest magazine publisher in the United States. He led key business, editorial and product strategy for the company's 80 magazines, 100 websites, 20 trade shows and its group of 450 books and directories.
Before Primedia, Andrews served for 16 years at Dow Jones & Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal. He was hired as a journalist, transitioning in seven years into senior technology and marketing assignments. His final role was as founder, president and chief executive of Factiva, a joint venture he championed with Reuters, which at launch had annual revenue of $225 million, 750 employees in 30 countries and products in 12 languages.
Andrews is active in a number of community organizations and is director of the local American Red Cross, the Arts Council of Princeton and The Johnnetta B. Cole Global Diversity & Inclusion Institute at Bennett College for Women.
Andrews earned a degree in journalism and economics from Ball State University, which inducted him into the institution’s Journalism Hall of Fame and also named him an Outstanding Alumnus. |

Carol Albright, who joined the company in 1986, is vice
president of human resources. She and her team are responsible
for staffing and retention, employee programs, training,
employee relations, maintenance of employee records
and performance consulting. Albright has successfully
overseen the staffing of the company over a period of
growth that quadrupled the number of employees. In 1990,
she was recognized as Employee of the Year.
Albright has a B.S. in industrial labor relations
from Rider University and recently received her master’s
degree in instructional systems design and performance
technology from Pennsylvania State University. She
also holds certificates in human resources management
from the Institute of Management and Labor Relations
at Rutgers University and in training and development
from Bucks County Community College.
Albright is a member of the Society of Human Resource
Management, the American Society of Training and Development,
and the International Society for Performance Improvement.

Vince Bucolo, chief operating officer, is responsible for all production aspects for magazines, catalogs and marketing materials, customer service, warehouse services, and finance.
In July 2008, Vince will celebrate his 30th year with ASI. He joined ASI as a junior accountant and assistant credit manager, was promoted to assistant supervisor of accounting, then to director of special finance projects and, in 1994, became director of purchasing and production. He became a vice president in 1996 and senior vice president in 2002.
One of his major contributions to the development of the company involved helping to research and select the current location for ASI and then successfully consolidating four separate offices into a single headquarters location.
More recently, Vince provided strong leadership and operating insights during ASI’s transition to a comprehensive database that helps ASI serve its customers more efficiently. He also helped to seamlessly incorporate the production of three new apparel magazines ASI acquired in 2007, improved our customer service, and drove new sales approaches that have allowed ASI to grow its membership.
Bucolo holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Temple University and an MBA from LaSalle University.

Steve Bright has been executive vice president and general
counsel for the Advertising Specialty Institute since
1996, and his work with the Cohn family goes back over
30 years. He advises the Cohn family and ASI management
on a variety of legal, business and strategic issues.
From 1972 until coming to the company, Bright was
a partner in the Iowa law firm of Phelan, Tucker,
Mullen, Bright and Walker. He holds membership in
both the Iowa and Pennsylvania Bar Associations.
A devoted Hawkeye, Bright earned B.B.A., M.B.A.,
and J.D. degrees from the University of Iowa. He was
a professor in the College of Business from 1974 to
1991 and continues to serve on the University’s
Law School Foundation Board. He has also co-authored
articles published in Lawyer's Cooperative Publishing
(third edition, 1993) and Taxation for Accountants
(May 1991 and January 1994 editions).

Dale Denham is the Senior Vice President at The Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI).
A graduate of the University of South Florida, Dale has advanced the advertising specialty industry's technology, sales and business management expertise for more than 10 years. He drives the vision, strategy and execution for the information in ASI's entire product line ensuring not only the value of the applications but the information contained within them. Dale is responsible for international initiatives and strategic business relationships with partners such as UPS, Experian, Technologo and Affinity Express.
He currently serves on the board of directors for ASI Computer Systems in Iowa as well as the advisory board for Boston based BZZAGENT. He was selected as Corporate Logo’s 100 most influential people in 2004 and selected as a "40 under 40" in 2001, by Counselor Magazine. He is a past president of PPAF (Promotional Products Association of Florida) and PPNA (Promotional Products Networkers Association). |

Richard Fairfield, Publisher and Senior Vice President, joined the Advertising Specialty Institute in 2004.
Fairfield is responsible for all of ASI’s editorial and advertising properties. These include seven magazines: Counselor, Advantages, Successful Promotions, Supplier Global Resource, Wearables, Stitches, and Uniforms; eleven catalogs; digital newsletters; and advertising placements in over nine thousand LogoMall websites and in the industry’s number one research tool -- ESP online.
Under his leadership and in partnership with Editor-in-Chief Melinda Ligos, ASI magazines have won a variety of prestigious awards from American Business Media, the American Society of Business Publication Editors, and Folio magazine. In addition, new catalogs, and many new digital offerings have been introduced.
Before joining ASI, Fairfield was senior vice president of corporate development and operations for American Express Publishing, where he managed strategic planning for traditional brands and online media. In that role, he launched all digital products for publications such as Travel + Leisure, T & L Golf, Food & Wine, Departures, and SkyGuide – winning two Best of the Web awards from min online: “Community” for T+L.com and “Integration with Print Category” for Departures.com.
Prior to that, Fairfield was a business manager at Time, Inc., where he is credited with expanding franchise development at publications such as Money and Life magazines. He started his career in Chicago with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

Charles Machion began working at ASI in 1999 as its
Senior Counsel. He was promoted to Vice President and
appointed to ASI President's Council in 2004. His extremely
strong legal background benefits ASI greatly, as he
performs all of the legal work for the company on a
daily basis.
Machion began his career while in the military, serving
as chief of prosecution for the United States Army
Judge Advocates Generals Corps at Fort Eustis, Virginia.
Following that, he was a contracts attorney and litigator
at the Pentagon before moving on to civilian work.
Machion then spent four years in Washington, D.C.
at Newman and Hotzinger, a law firm that utilized
his talents in the areas of complex civil litigation
and government contracts. His next role was in-house
counsel at Computer Data Systems Inc., a high-tech
computer services company. Finally, before joining
ASI, Machion worked for AMP Inc., a large electrical
connector company.
Chuck holds a law degree from Temple University.
He also obtained his undergraduate degree in Political
Science from Temple University, where he was a member
of Phi Beta Kappa.
Chuck and his wife, Judith, are the proud parents
of two girls and one boy.

Dan O’Halloran began his work with ASI 19 years
ago on the ESP sales team. Over his years with the company,
his influence with both clients and co-workers has earned
him promotions to group leader, supervisor, director
and, recently, Senior Vice President of Distributor
Services.
The main focus of O’Halloran's current goals
is to build closer relationships with distributor
members, while increasing the value of our services,
education, and community. One of his first moves as
vice president was to begin reorganizing the distributor
sales team. Under the new system, account managers
will have a smaller account base, allowing them to
give their clients more personal attention and service.
O’Halloran is a graduate of LaSalle University,
where he majored in political science. |

Lori Sherman, Vice President of Development, joined
the company as director of Internet technology in August
of 2000 and is responsible for all ASInternet product
development. Her main focus is to create online products
that deliver maximum value to our customers and provide
the tools necessary for them to conduct their business.
Prior to ASI, Sherman spent three years as a director
at Reliance Insurance Company in Philadelphia. At
Reliance, she was responsible for managing development,
infrastructure and data aspects of e-commerce sites
and products supporting the insurance business. She
also led support of the email environment for over
6,000 employees worldwide.
Sherman started her career at the Greater Philadelphia
Chamber of Commerce, where she advanced to the position
of vice president of information technology. Among
other accomplishments, she was responsible for the
development of the Chamber’s first web site
and designing a product offering for member companies
to create a presence online.
Sherman earned a B.S. degree in electrical and computer
engineering from Drexel University
